New York – A hand-crocheted yarmulke that used to belong to Frank Sinatra sold at auction for close to $10,000.

The black kippah, with musical notes and “Frank” decorating its border, was auctioned off by Sotheby’s Dec. 6 in New York as part its sale of items belonging to the estate of the singer’s late wife, Barbara Sinatra.
The catalogue did not indicate who made the kippah or gave it to Sinatra, although it does note that he was “a lifelong sympathizer with Jewish causes.”
The yarmulke sold for $9,375, shattering its original estimate of $200-$400.
Sinatra had an anger management problem, and assaulted a waitress by throwing her threw a glass door, in Las Vegas, seriously injuring her; also, he threw an ash tray, at the head of a patron at a restaurant, who was seated nearby and objected to his foul language, also seriously injuring him. The Vegas cops were were afraid to confront Sinatra. He even called his Jewish Attorney on Pesach (during a Seder), and cursed him. In 1974, while on a concert tour in Australia, he referred to female reporters as “whores”. The airport workers, refused to refuel his private jet, until Sinatra apologized. Sinatra had to grovel, and apologize. Otherwise, his plane would not have left Australia. Ivana Trump (Trump’s first wife), mentioned another incident involving Sinatra. She was on an elevator with him, at one of Trump’s Atlantic City hotels, in the 1980’s. All of a sudden, a newlywed bride (who was wearing her bridal dress), and her husband came on the elevator. She saw Sinatra and stated “Oh, Mr. Sinatra, we absolutely love you”. Sinatra turned to his bodyguard and loudly stated “Get these bums out of here”. Ivana was shocked, and made sure he was never booked again, at their hotel.
