Middletown, CT – Middletown police have identified the suspect in yesterday’s shooting of a Wesleyan University student at the college bookstore Wednesday. Chief Lynn Baldoni says he’s identified as Stephen Morgan, who has ties to New York, Colorado and Massachusetts. A nationwide alert was posted and she asked for help from the public at large.

Chief Baldoni says authorities also have reason to believe that Morgan could be focusing on the Wesleyan campus and the Jewish community — and she says they’ve cautioned both to be on extra alert. State police and the FBI also are working on the case.

Wesleyan President Michael Roth says students have been asked to remain inside, and faculty and staff told not to come to their offices unless otherwise instructed. Classes at Wesleyan are over for the year and exams have not yet started.

Johanna Justin-Jinich lists her residence as Spain, according to Facebook. The suspect, whom police identified as Stephen Morgan, expressed threats in his personal journal toward Wesleyan and its Jewish students, said Mike Whaley, vice president for student affairs. Aren’t you a little ashamed to be asking if she was one of us or not? If her suffering family are gentiles, will they cry less? Will the loss hurt less?

Congratulations to the police and to the FBI. I am very glad that we don’t live in Russia. In Russia, we would not even be told that this crime happened, and the police over there would be helping this hate filled criminal.
Here in America we already know his name and we have two pictures of him.
May the girl rest in peace and may her family be comforted.
