The National Weather Service reported that there was 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) of snow at McCarran International Airport as of 4 a.m. Thursday.

The weather service said Las Vegas’ half an inch (1.3 centimeters) of snow late Wednesday was the first measurable snow since the record keeping started.

Las Vegas schools were open Thursday and the Nevada Highway Patrol said some areas had snow and ice but all freeways were open.

Forecasters say the snow accumulation could reach to 3 inches on the city’s western and southern outskirts by Friday morning but that rain could reduce snow accumulations.

Las Vegas is one big rip off. The hotels with the casinos don’t have the guts to make them smoke free. Even if one doesn’t gamble, it is impossible to walk through those hotels, without smelling the stench of cigarette smoke. The only thing that I liked about Las Vegas, were several Kosher restaurants which I ate at (delicious, but expensive), and the magnificent airport, with its ultra clean airport terminal, and beautiful carpet. The administrators of McCarran Airport, could teach the administrators of JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark, a lesson, pertaining to maintaining a clean, ultra modern airport terminal. McCarran Airport knows how to get people through security very efficiently, as their TSA appears to know what they are doing. The only thing which should be done about the airport in Las Vegas, is that its name should be changed; Senator Walter McCarran was a bigot, and no friend of Yidden. Their were proposals to change the name, but unfortunately, they all failed.
