Y G Nikam, the investigating officer in the case, said, “The Israeli embassy in New Delhi has confirmed Ifriti’s claims that he is a man of some importance in Israel. The law will, nevertheless, take its course.”

The mystery surrounding Ifriti deepened when investigations revealed that he had once worked closely with an Israeli prime minister.

Pratibha Ghorpade, Ifriti’s lawyer, told MiD DAY that her client has provided her very little information about himself. “Ifriti is yet to tell me which Israeli PM he has worked with or the university where he is a professor,” Ghorpade said.

Ghorpade added, “Ifriti has to stay in the city for four months in compliance with the court’s order. While he was arrested under the Indian Arms Act (1959), he is likely to be prosecuted under the Section 107 of the IPC. He is presently staying in Chabad House,” Ghorpade said.

However, Chabad House’s Rabi Bezalel Kupchik denies knowing Ifriti.

India has very interesting laws. It’s okay for the sweet Moslems who only explode trains and buses and market places to have machine guns and grenades, as long as these lousy Israelis don’t fly in with a bullet.

Ifreet means the Soton in Arabic. Unless this is a mistransliteration of his name, the whole thing sounds fishy. Probably a wannabe who thinks he’s a Mossad agent, or a real mishuggener.

    One bullet?
What kind of pathetic legal system do they have in India!
You can buy bullets by mail- or make them yourself.
Can’t do much without a gun.

    and like jackie mason says.
they probably only found the bullet because it was attached to a key.
