The Pentagon posted the photos on their web site Saturday, defense officials said.
On April 27, 2009, two aircraft – a presidential plane and an F-16 fighter jet – flew just above lower Manhattan for a photo-op.
The low-flying aircraft sparked fears and panic of another Sept. 11-style terrorist attack.
Since then, President Barack Obama blasted the photo-shoot mission, saying, “It was a mistake, … and it will not happen again.”
The flyover cost nearly $400,000, officials said.
What g-d awful pictures. For $400,000 they should have bothered to buy a decent camera.
I have never seen such G-d awful pix in my life of the NY area as well as AF1. We should demand a refund!
couldn’t they do it digitally?
I am sure a large part of the cost was for Jet fuel, and air-space schedule changes and security etc. Jet fuel is expensive.
Michelle and I, we understand how many Americans who sit around the kitchen table and worry about how they’re gonna pay their bills…..who struggle, we’re plain folk….
(More like – we’ve been there, done that. Now lets move to $400,000 flyerovers, $20,000 ring gift, $5,000 handbags and night on the town in NYC for untold$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and of course, lets get together around another TABLE for a beer to solve the racism in the US……)
the pictures were actually pretty nice, but dont they already have pictures of this presidential 747 already. This plane has been in use for 20 years or so. What a waste of money.
Garbage pure garbage, they weren’t even low enough to get a decent picture. it looks like it came from google earth it’s so high.
