Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park will be closed to vehicles from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 8, 15 and 22.
It’s the second year of the Summer Streets program, which aims to encourage New Yorkers to embrace alternate forms of transportation.
Dozens of activities are planned this year, from dance classes to musical performances.
It’s modeled after events in Bogota, Colombia, and Paris, France.

They are planning similiar “no car” Sundays for some of the most busy roads in BP and WB along with Brooklyn Heights and several other neighborhoods. These won’t start until the Fall of 09 and will be more frequent beginning in May 2010.
