Wareham, MA – A Rhode Island man who was seen taunting a Hasidic Jew with racial slurs later charged officers and was subsequently tased and arrested last night.

Michael Watkins, 37, of 726 Post Road in Warwick, R.I., was reported to be taunting the man at a Stop and Shop, and the responding officer observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling west on Cranberry Highway, according to police.
The report notes that the vehicle at first failed to stop, and Watkins, the passenger, was seen throwing a shotgun out the window.
The vehicle eventually stopped, and when the officer stepped out of his cruiser, Watkins charged police yelling and screaming.
After Watkins refused to come to the ground, he was tased and brought into custody with the aid of other officers, police said. The shotgun that had been thrown out the window was later found to be loaded.
The driver, Emily R. Putney, 19, of 185 North Fitzwilliam Road, Royalston, was also arrested.
Putney has been charged with failing to stop for a police officer, carrying a dangerous weapon, and possession of a large capacity firearm. Watkins has been charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, possessing a large capacity firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, a firearms violation with two prior violent crimes, and a violation of civil rights.
Both will be arraigned in Wareham District Court Wednesday morning.

It’s good to see though that in other states and cities (unlike NY) they at least respond and take these charges seriously.
I wonder how a NYC 911 operator would even react to a caller telling them that’s he’s being taunted with racial slurs by someone? I doubt they would even forward the call.

Such people are around everywhere. Just this summer I was threatened by someone like this on a road in the Catskills. I showed him that THIS Jew has no fear, but later regretted it, because maybe he will take it out on a vulnerable Jew. Who knows, maybe it was this guy.

My mentor, Rabbi Avigdor Miller ZT”L used to tell a story where a Bochur in Manhattan was approached by a guy like this and asked “do you want to fight”? He thought he was brave and accepted the challenge, and he was killed. The Judge threw out the case saying: “The court is no place for revenge”!
I personally witnessed as a kid another kid accepting such a challenge and although he really hurt his opponent he himself was badly hurt.

this is the answer to all of the gun control people in the rare case where somebody use’s a legal gun for a crime he gets caught a lot quicker the some one using an illegal gun
