The fire broke out on July 30 at Beth Israel Synagogue near 126th and Pacific streets. The fire destroyed the playground, (reported here on VIN News).

Nothing at the crime scene indicated the arsonists targeted the playground because it was part of a Jewish institution, said Beth Israel Synagogue’s Executive Director Beth Cohen. Cohen acknowledged, however, that hate crimes are “always in the back of our minds” during such incidents.

The synagogue has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone involved.

Investigators urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 402-444-STOP, offering a tip online at OmahaCrimeStoppers.net or texting OPD to 274637 (CRIMES).
