Meb Keflezighi. Wasn’t there a character by that name in the Li’l Abner comic strip? the little guy with the prepetual cloud over his head? I guess I’m dating myself.

We had several postings last night about the growing number of frumme yidden running in the marathon, including one rav from a frum shul. This is a very positive development and more shuls need to consider how to use sports to get people interested in physical fitness rather than sitting around the tish and fressing.

I took my wife and kids to central park to watch the last 1/2 mile. The crowds were huge. Some of the womens’ times were amazing. They were a great model for my daughter who spends most of her free time on the phone and internet.

There is a whole group of frum men who run daily. they have formed a group called the heimishe road runners; 6 of them ran in the nyc marathon today, they all train and run in marathons. the ones who didn’t run, came to give encouragement to their fellow runners and it was a huge kiddush hashem – they had banners with the name heimishe road runners………..way to go!! more people should get involved in these healthy pastimes and we should encourage our youth instead of encouraging passive, couch potato activities.

Let’s see a 2nd or 3rd generation American born athlete win. Big deal that he became American; he wasn’t born here. He’s really just another African runner winning. With all of our science, we can’t win…
