Naveed Haq’s first trial ended last year with jurors deadlocked on whether he was legally insane during the shooting spree on July 28, 2006. The attack left one woman dead and five other people injured.
This trial was to determine whether Haq will spend the rest of his life in prison or in a state mental hospital.
His own lawyers have conceded he poses a danger to the public and should never be free.
The prosecutor argued he carefully planned the shooting and told his family in a jailhouse phone call that he knew what he was doing.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I am relieved the jury was able to come to a verdict. I can’t imagine how difficult this has been for all involved.
This cold blooded murderer should rot in jail. Why is there no death penalty? This is a prime example.
boruch hashem, he was a horrible, horrible person. yemach shemo vezichrono. i hope he rots in prison forever.
and of course we should not jump to conclusions that it was racially motivated just because he has an Islamic sounding name and all the victims were Jewish, shot at a Jewish locale. That’s just coincidence. I’m sure he was just having a bad hair day.
