The billionaire had already shattered his own spending records. His third-term bid was the most expensive self-financed political campaign in U.S. history.

Bloomberg has a fortune estimated by Forbes magazine at $17.5 billion. He did not take donations and was allowed to spend freely if he disclosed his expenses with the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

His Democratic opponent relied on public matching funds and donations. He spent less than one-tenth of Bloomberg’s total and came within 50,600 votes and 4.5 points of beating him.

Bloomberg will file final expenses with the state Board of Elections in July.

That is an obscene amount of money to feed your own ego. How about using your considerable fortune (at least the same amount) to support organizations like Masbiah & all the other soup kitchens, as well as those that help the unemployed feed, clothe, house, & educate their kids.

I’m just disgusted by this. I don’t care it’s his own money, it’s just obscene.

My issue is not that he shouldn’t be allowed to spend his own money, its his money and he’s entitled to spend it in the way he wants. What is ludicrous is so much of that money was simply wasted on so much TV advertising. Over and over and over again commercials (not that I have or watch TV) people already made up their mind and he’s still running ads to the tune of millions of dollars, that’s what irks me. And if anything I think that barrage of advertising may have hurt him more than helped him. That’s just my view and I may be wrong.

How many hungry New Yorkers could have been fed?
How many homeless New Yorkers could have been given shelter?
How many cold New Yorkers could have been clothed?

This is why I stopped voting in elections in America when I lived there before moving to Eretz Yisroel!

Politics and government have nothing to do with public service — instead it only has to do with self-indulgence and self-service.

My jobs sux. I work as a security guard and if I had $200 grand then I would retire in a heartbeat.

Why on earth would a man pay over $108 million dollars for a stupid, boring, stressful job that pays $1 a years?

Or am I too stupid to get it?
