Munich, Germany – Prosecutors in the German city of Munich currently seeking to convict alleged former Nazi guard John Demjanjuk said Sunday they will be studying whether to put another US resident, Ivan Kalymon, on trial.

Ukraine-born Kalymon, who lives in the US state of Michigan, is alleged to have worked as a police auxiliary for the Nazis and to have personally shot dead a Jewish man in 1942 in occupied Ukraine.
Barbara Stockinger, the senior German prosecutor, confirmed a news report from the previous day that Germany’s national war crimes prosecutor in Ludwigsburg has asked Munich to take over the case.
‘We will be reviewing the matter,’ she said.
The national prosecutor only investigates and cannot indict. As with Demjanjuk, the German region where an accused last lived before emigrating to the United States determines which local prosecutor is responsible. Kalymon stayed near Munich after World War II.
Both cases involve former Soviet servicemen who allegedly agreed to collaborate with the Nazis, were trained at an SS camp in Trawniki, Poland, and became low-level guards taking part in the Holocaust in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe.
The weekly magazine Der Spiegel said the national prosecutor had sent a similar case to local prosecutors in the western city of Dortmund, urging them to prosecute a Soviet-born man living there who was allegedly a death camp guard from 1941 to 1943 at Belzec, Poland.
News reports say the German prosecutors plan to travel to Lviv, Ukraine, at the end of this month to see archive records containing Kalymon’s handwriting to compare with notes about the murder.
bilom said tumis nafshi mois yeshurim ,the germans with their helpers soaked europe with jewish blood ,there is no way out of it venikeisi dumom loi nikeisi ,now they are the avengers, too late
So many Jews died, so few were convicted!!I like the way the article uses the word “allegedly”. I hope VIN posts this.
Isn’t it chutzpadik for germans to prosecute Ukrainians fro collaborating with the Holocaust?
Elderly murderers on trial often evoke sympathy as they look so gentle and grandfatherly. Let these filthy bastards die peacefully and then let the true judgement begin.
