The agreement approved today ends Bail Glauber’s short but stormy tenure that included her bosses taking away her gun and badge in December.

Glauber’s year-long probation would have ended in early February with the police chief having recommended her termination, according to the settlement signed Thursday.

If this was a result of her medical injury then it doesn’t mean much. I hope she was not terminated because of poor performance as a potential cop. She still made history as a first frum female who broke great barriers within her community. It is slow steps like her’s which pave the road for opportunities for other women. Down the line maybe more frum gals will have an interest and courage to make honorable careers like in policing for themselves.

Good for her. I wish her the best of luck with whatever career she decides to persue. She definitly broke boundries, and and stuck up for herself when everyone around her tried tearing her down.

Very sorry to hear this– I think it would have been a great thing for all involved if she had succeeded, and I do hope that others will follow. Jewish traditions of justice and ethics should lead more and more Jews into careers in law enforcement.

    Hey Baila,
You make us proud. You broke the barriers and succeeded where many have tried in the past. You used your sense of determination and went against all odds. With everyone putting you down, name calling, etc. you went ahead and did it. I hope you use this determination to help build a beautiful future for you and your beautiful family.
    Keep up the good work.

Is a gun a “male instrument” in the same way a sword is a “zayin?” Or is it the phallic symbolism inherent in a gun that motivates the commentator here to condemn the woman’s use of it as contrary to standards of religious piety?

I would argue that law and police procedure largely limit firearms use to situations of clear pikuach nefesh, under which use of a firearm for defence becomes, in fact, a positive precept along the lines of פיקוח נפש דוחה שבת.

I hope that those of you who pass judgement on Ms. Glauber stop hiding behind your fictitious names and lashon hora on these posts. Officer Glauber had a goal and accomplished it. She showed us that frum people can work “secular” jobs and still be observant, albeit very difficult at times. Although she may or may not have conformed to the perfect Jewish ‘observant’ lifestyle many of you seem to ridicule her on, the only person she must answer to is Hashem. We should be proud of ourselves when we break down barriers and not focus more on breaking down each other! We have enough people who hate us simply because we are Jews, why do we continue this nonsense of trying to hurt each other? Let me guess…is it because we are in galus?

From one fellow officer to another, Ms. Glauber has my respect and she should, at minimum, have yours!

This was a scam from the beginning. She knew she could not work on Shabbos and never mentioned a word when she applied and was hired. Now we have to pay for this forever. The Goyim police officers have to work on Sunday.

    Reply to #20 :
Maybe you as being a Heimishe Police Officer can help us understand. Why is it that no Frum yid hasn’t succeeded yet in being a police officer without having to sacrifice big time? For ex. M. Glauber just simply dropped outof the force, Y. Witriol lost his family (divorced) Trooper I. Kaplan married a shiksa.
Is it realy impossible to have both? Be a frum yid and be in the law inforcement?
Why DO we succeed in the EMS field where a HUGE number of real frum yidden from all walks of klal yisroel Monroe, Williamsburg, Boro Park, Flatbush and Queens are employed and some are even in the highest Management possitions for ex. H. Sickles who’s a EMS Deputy Commissionar.

P.S. There is one exception, Deputy Sherrif S. Kanig from Monsey.
