One official said at least two of them are believed to be connected to al Qaeda in Yemen, and may have a non-Arab appearance and be traveling on Western passports.

The threat was described as “current” but not imminent, said the official.

“They have trained women,” said former White House counterterrorism official Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

Separately, Britain raised its terrorism threat level to “severe,” its second-highest level, days before London hosts major international meetings on how to deal with militancy in Afghanistan and Yemen. Britain’s threat level had been labeled “severe” for several years before being lowered last summer to “substantial.”

American officials say a U.S. air strike on Christmas Eve against suspected al Qaeda training camps is believed to have killed many, but not all, of a group of suicide bombers being trained in Yemen.

The man accused of attempting to explode a bomb on Northwest flight 253, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, told FBI agents there were a number of other people who trained with him in Yemen.

“There are others who are still out there who have been trained and who are clean skins — that means people who we do not have a record of, people who may not look like al Qaeda terrorists, who may not be Arabs, and may not be men,” said Clarke.

The alert comes during a week in which American law enforcement officials described an “unusually high” number of people on the no-fly list attempting to board flights to or in the United States.

this is all nonsense. there are no bombers on their way to america. all this hysteria is to convince americans to support more war. i haven’t believed a terror threat in years. stop believing this nonsense. no more war.
if you don’t believe this was all planned out in advance why did all the american and israeli agencies suddenly want to ship all the yemenite jews out? this was all planned out along time ago.

#2 , what about the guy with the bomb in his pants on board the airliner, as well as the “Soldier of Allah,” Major Nidal Malik Hassan of Fort Hood? Or were those just propaganda stories churned out by those evil, warmongering neocons?

#7, people have started doing just that. Senator-elect Scott Brown in Massachusetts, in his successful campaign, declared that “taxpayer money should be used to pay for weapons to defeat terrorists — not lawyers to defend them.”

His clueless Dem opponent, Coakley, on the other hand, endorsed Obama and Holder’s insane scheme to give terrorist enemy combatants — whom the Geneva Convention explicitly states are NOT legitimate soldiers, are NOT entitled to the Convention’s protection and who ARE liable to be summarily executed as spies or bandits when caught — all legal rights Americans have. These include the right to “lawyer up” and say nothing, rather than be interrogated, and the right to see evidence against them, which will lead to KSM and his attorneys going on fishing expeditions for American security information, as when terrorists were tried in civilian courts in the 1990s — and Bin Laden found out that we knew about him and fled to safety.
