Agri Star Meat and Poultry CEO Hershey Friedman said Friday the plant is expanding its turkey processing, which will mean adding a second shift to its poultry line. Friedman said it also plans to restart the plant’s beef line in a few weeks.
The new owners bought the plant out of bankruptcy last fall. The plant, then known as Agriprocessors, used to be the Postville area’s dominant employer, but the company collapsed in the wake of a huge immigration raid in May 2008.
The plant, which once employed nearly 1,000 workers, now has more than 400.
I would suggest to him as an eitza tova to let an outside agency hire the new employees in order to avoid any immigration and undocumented aliens issues.
but i bought flanken from them and it tasted just like before!!!
Hershey Friedman is a honest, good businessman… and an honest Yid. If anyone can be successful here, he can and it will benefit every single Jewish family to have more choice and competition in the marketplace. Hopefully, this will bring skyrocketing prices down.
The new management under Heshy Friedman will soon make them forget about tragic outcomes under the prior Rubashkin onwnership. The increased supply of chicken and beef with top of the line REAL chasideshe hashgacha will also be a great benefit to the heimishe communities throughout the U.S.
Much mazel and hatzlacha to the new owners and hopefully we will never hear anything negative about this plant again.
who gives the hashgacha?
Good luck to Mr Friedman, hashem should give lots of hatzlocho and brocho amen

Uh, you DO realize that the hashgachah will be the same as before; OU and Weissmandl. Nothing has changed (and I am perfectly OK with that).
Mr Friedman, I know thjat you are a very honest businessman, and I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Contrary to popular belief, I wish that the unions keep far away from you! As we all know the unions are the reasons business can not make it here in the US
