The men were arrested on suspicion of affray in north west London after residents called for officers to disperse the crowds.

Barnet Police said there had been “fighting, throwing of fireworks and general havoc” in Brent Street, Hendon, and Golders Green Road, Golders Green, between 10pm and 12.30am on Sunday morning.

Officers and Community Security Trust volunteers separated Jewish men who were drunk and fighting with each other. Members of the Orthodox Shomrim volunteers were also in the area during the Purim celebrations.

Those who were arrested were later released without charge.

A police source said: “We thought it was going to be a quiet affair and then a group of young males came out, charging around and drinking. We were not expecting it.

“We always thought Golders Green was a quiet sort of place, but obviously not. We encouraged them to chill out.”

Lock them up an throw away the keys for a few weeks. Just what we need is to have yeshiva bochurim acting like a bunch of drunk goiyeshe skinheads.

Growing up in London all those years ago, I always remember the way it was set up that the first night (this year would mean Sat night)is always in Stamford Hill, and the second night(again this year would mean Sun night) is always Golders Green/ Hendon . As in both places the other night is totally dead. So Sat night is usually always dead the first night, and so the timing of this story being in GG on Sat night is a little surprising. But then again things could have changed over the last 25+ years.

Where are the Rabbonim to speak out against this?

    why, cuz of one incident?
I would think Golders green is a quiet sort of place except one time when a few drunk kids started fighting.

Same happens every year or two but has been getting worse over the years. (VERY different 25 years ago!) These people are not usually the frum crowd but are the non-frum looking for some “fun” and to cause havoc. THE place to be Purim used to be around PPA and the area was then heavily policed due to the crazy situation, with many people there deciding to either go away for Purim or have their seuda elsewhere due to the situation.

There was also a fight at the JLE in Golders Green, which resulted in two guys being thrown out… Unfortunatly there are one or two BT’s who get kiruved too quickly and started drinking like they used too, before they had found judaism. Its the same every year, these are not FFB kids doing this.

Maybe this is the same scum that later came over to Stamford Hill around 12-1am and started kicking up a ruckus there.

    See No. 4.
I was in Golders Green on Motze Shabbos and saw this. These hooligans were not heimishe kids. I don’t know where they came from but they looked to me like some of the low-lifes who hang around Carmelli every Motze Shabbos.

To #12 what a stupid comment about FFBs and BTs. Absolute nonesense and judemental. Get a life. I know LOADS of FFBs who drink too much and play up… don’t kid yourslef – in fact BTs are more likely to hug each other and show love when they’re drunk than FFBs.. by the way I’m a BT and I’ve never been an alcoholic, or a junkie actually, or a nymphomaniac – sorry to disappoint you

BT’s all jump on the band wagon, I’m so frum we would never do that, blah blah. I’m sorry, but I saw with my own eyes, who was casuing the ruckus outside on golders green road, and these were not FFB kids. I can’t say that FFB’s are not also responsible for other events… However in THIS case, and the main issue of THIS news story, it was ‘BT’ kids who were responsible, and were behaving like yocks… How many arrests in Stamford Hill?….. None reported. Go figure.

sorry #12 /#19 – you actually KNOW these people, to say that they are BTs and not FFBs??? Are they your friends then, that are causing all this trouble?
Anyway my point was the BT line was totally irrelevant. As for your Stamford Hill comment, there are plenty of rowdy off-the-derech kids in S. Hill chassidish litvish you name it. Wake up and smell the coffee buddy boy

i live in gg & if the police would come out in force as they did on motzei shabbos & sunday, then all of gg & hendon would gain from lower crime & filth
if they would show up every motzei shabbos outside pizzaza in brent st & carmelli in gg, they would have weekly arrests of underage drinking & sex
most of these teenagers are not from frum homes, but they do generally eat kosher & hang out with Jews but there are many local boys & girls who have been shlepped in to these “cool” hangouts

all of you who believe the night in golders green was “havoc” then you are obviosly mad, i was there and was a witness of the “fighting” if you call it that- it was a fun night out and it only occurs once a year, i know some of you believe it causes a bad name for the jews but every one needs to have fun sometimes, else you obvously are a “boring, miserable and non existent to socialising.” Those who also belive this event was appualing then you should come and visit this event one year and experience the night as you will be suprised as the night was enjoyable whilst it brings all jews together from all over england as reunite as one nation.
