Florida – Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show that he will eventually leave the country if the health care bill passes and its provisions are implemented.

Liberal media watchdog Media Matters recorded Limbaugh’s comments, which you can hear below. At the 1:20 mark,
Limbaugh says the following: “I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica.”
It is not clear if Limbaugh was making a joke, if he was saying he would leaving the country permanently, or if he was saying he would leave just for health care.
The radio host was responding to a caller who asked, “If the health care bill passes, where would you go for health care yourself?”
I’m failing to see how this is supposed to encourage Democrats to oppose the legislation.

Sorry, he didn’t say that! Listen to that whole segment, where he spoke about insurance firms creating clinics out of the US with good doctors, if this bill passes. All Rush said was that he would “GO” down there for medical treatment, and explicitly said he would NOT move down there. So please don’t post articles created by left wing nuts.

As someone who actually listened to his clarification on his show today (3/9) he meant to say, “If this Monstrosity of Obamacare passes, I will GO to Costa Rica for my healthcare, not MOVE THERE, but purchase surgical services etc. from Costa Rican doctors/hospitals…..” On his Monday show, he was not that clear.

I heard Rush saying this on his program. BUT—Based on previous discussions on his show about US-based health plans making deals with doctors and hospitals in Costa Rica, I think he meant he’d get his medical care in Costa Rica, not that he’d move there altogether.

You have to understand Rush to know why he made this statement. As usual, Rush is baiting the liberals. He’s saying exactly what the liberal Hollywood types like Sean Penn were saying before the 2004 election, i.e., that they would move to Canada if Bush were re-elected. He was re-elected but none of them moved a muscle. Rush wants to see what kind of play his statement would get in the liberal media while, hypocritically, they said nothing when the Hollywood libs didn’t move.

CBS cut Rush Limbaugh’s statement off in the middle. Limbaugh said he would go to Costa Rica for major medical treatment if private health care was outlawed by the Obama legislation. That is exactly what he said. CBS distorted his words because CBS despises Rush Limbaugh and will write anything to make Limbaugh look bad. CBS should lose its broadcasting license for intentionally distorting its news. They are shown to be liars once again. Remember Dan Rather and his fake reporting before the Bush/Gore Election? Last I checked, Costa Rica has universal health care, as does every industrialized country on earth. When left-wingers threaten to leave the country they have plenty of like-minded places to go. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Great Britain, even Israel just to name a few. When right-wingers threaten to leave the country, they have nowhere to go except for maybe the Cayman Islands. Rush is getting desperate with his empty threats.

Typical of the MSM. Rush did NOT say he would relocate to Costa Rica, that he would go there for health care — just like Canadians (including a provincial premier — the Canadian equivalent of state governor) come here or Brits go to Eastern Europe.
This has happened in EVERY nationalized system: the uber-rich can still afford to get the best health care and the rest get stuck in clinics left lying unattended in their own filth, relying on relatives to bring them food and water (see the recent reports out of Britain).
While America’s system is imperfect, it affords the AVERAGE citizen access to the best treatment available. For example, twenty years ago my father — a working class man — needed SEXTUPLE bypass surgery. It was performed by the CHIEF cardiac surgeon at THE leading cardiac unit in Miami.
You don’t get that in Britain; you get some “doctor” who went to medical school in Pakistan. You don’t get that in Canada either: just ask the aforementioned Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams who went to the same hospital for HIS surgery.
In America, not all but MOST people have access to the best. Under socialized systems, only a few get the best and the rest… oh well
Costa Rica has socialized medicine and stands ahead of the U.S. in overall quality of its health care.
Of course, this “news” about Limbaugh follows the news that his protege Palin has gone to Canada, also a “socialized medicine” country for care.
