New York – Orange County’s population increased by about 4,000 people, or 1.1 percent, in the year that ended July 1, 2009, making it the second-fastest growing county in New York state, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates released.

Sullivan and Ulster counties, meanwhile, each saw a population decline of about 0.2 percent.
Orange’s growth in recent years has been driven by a massive influx of commuters who work in New York City and its immediate suburbs, and the rapid growth of the Satmar Hasidic Village of Kiryas Joel, where residents tend to have large families.
The reasons people are leaving Sullivan and Ulster counties, meanwhile, are likely twofold, say local economists: fewer jobs and cheaper homes elsewhere.

kj population didn’t increase with four thousand people so it also has to that orange county became a very atractive place for someone of the city because of the shopping, malls, school, etc.
Baruch Hashem; kein yirbu!
It is also most notably the poorest in the country.
KJ has the lowest per capita income of any area in the country, so i don’t know how exactly this helps anything.
that’s like when obama says that he’s created jobs, but it turns out that theyre just government jobs. doesn’t really accomplish anything.
