“Apparently I caused quite a problem,” Obama told Yousaf Raza Gilani, noting that the media was unhappy about missing the trip to one of his daughter’s soccer games.

Saturday morning, Obama left the White House about two hours before reporters were told to be in position to cover presidential activity. The White House press corps traditionally travels with the president anywhere he goes.

Obama and Gilani met Sunday in advance of a nuclear security summit this week in Washington.

He has been really good about attending his kids’ school events. I live near the school the older one attends and his or Michelle’s motorcades are becoming quite routine and frequent during evening and weekend events. He is entitled to have a family life without all of us looking over his shoulder.

its not a problem, since nobody really cares to see his daughter’s soccer game. its called not respecting the office of the president, and ignoring protocol, thinking that he’s bigger than the office

he’s caused quite a problem, but this ain’t it. this, however, is a reflection of his unmitigated arrogance.

The hullabaloo is caused by the reporters who want 24 hour access. Kudos to President Obama in showing them that there are limits.

Good for him. I hope this sets a precedent. The reporters think they’re a branch of government, and that they have some sort of special role under the constitution. Anything that disabuses them of this notion is to the good. It’s none of anybody’s business what the president does in his own time.
