The 40-year-old Jewish man was alleged assaulted at around 1.15am after he and a female companion had been pelted by objects thrown from a passing car.

A confrontation followed in which the Rabbi was left with a cut to the ear although exactly how he sustained the injury is not clear.

Reports that he was hit with a bottle and then punched have not been confirmed by the police or the Jewish organisation Community Security Trust (CST).

All the suspects are described as white and in their early twenties. They ran from the area on foot.

Police are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to the crime to come forward. All information would be treated in confidence.

If anyone witnessed the assault or has any information which would be useful they can contact the CID at Colindale police on Tel 020 8733 4595 and speak to D S Brooks the officer in the case.

What does “female companion” mean? His wife? just say “his wife”.

As an outsider (and living on the other side of the “pond”) I can not judge about the actual situation. But the information from London and Manchester seems to be the same. Namely, that the perp or perps got away. And the police are investigating. The (Jewish) victims are left to lick their wounds. In the majority of cases the (anti-Semitic) perpetrators are never caught or brought to justice. The “Community Security trust” (equivalent to Shomrim) have their hands tied. They don’t have the relative freedom of action and the cooperation with the PD that is enjoyed by their counterparts in NYC. The police are “offended” when the Shomrim take any independent action (As of last report.) Or there’s a possibility that everything is fine and dandy but that the media fails to report when the perps are caught and brought to justice!

The CST are merely window dressing, more concerned with projecting an image than actually protecting those Jewish communities who don’t contribute greatly to their coffers.Antisemitic attacks are on the increase whilst the CST claims they’re preventing them.

The Rabbi was the organiser of the Lag B’Omer Parade – it was an all night last minute session to ensure that everything would go A1 – and it did! His companions, as far as I was aware were his sons and their friends, and his father in law. The boys went to buy something from the 24 hour shop next door and were abused and then attacked. He stepped in!

The newspaper this is taken from is a non Jewish paper, who have made a kugel from two seperate incidents which took place with in half an hour of each other in the same location. The women in a car had an egg thrown in her face and then a short while later the same group attacked the Rabbi as mentioned by #9 he was preparing for the Lag Bomer parade the next morning.

Thanks to “I was there” and “In the know from Golders Green” for clarifying the story.

Yes, to all who assaulted me for asking, but now the story makes much more sense.

You see from here, that not all that is reported as fact, even from a respected source, is true. The story from the beginning sounded incomplete from the fact that “he … had been pelted by objects thrown from a passing car.” Then it said that “he was hit with a bottle and then punched” and the suspects “ran from the area on foot.” Were they in a passing car or on foot? But now that it was clarified the story makes alot more sense.

May Hashem help all who were injured and let us remember.. im Hashem lo yishmor ir, shav shokad shomer!!”

Its about time the police started taking the violance in London seriously and focus less on catching traffic offenders! What are they waiting for? Its already not safe to walk around your block at night!!
