Manhattan, NY – President Obama will meet today with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg after New York officials used his visit to criticize cuts to some planned homeland security spending.

Bloomberg declined to ding the White House or DHS over cuts to planned anti-terror funding last night, and the topic — among others — is expected to be a topic at the meeting.
Bloomberg told reporters Thursday that he’d spoken to White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.
“Rahm made a commitment to me that he will work with me on this issue, and you can rest assured that we will hold the administration accountable to that,” he said, dismissing White House arguments that the city actually saw its funds increase this year.
“The numbers are the numbers. The question is not did we get an increase, the question is did we get our fair share and is it adequate to keep this city safe?” he said.
Sen. Chuck Schumer and other New York Democrats have blasted the administration for the cuts in the wake of the Times Square bombing attempt.
Sources say the mayor will be at police headquarters for the “thank-you” event, where he plans to discuss his concerns with the president about future funding.
A source insisted the mayor had always been planning on attending the event and that the men won’t spend time alone. Which could make for an interesting conversation if it’s in front of the police.
Mike – make sure he hand you a signed check for the security bill. And no – not for votes.
Yes, both were sure that it was a white man / lone wolf that was upset with the health care bill
Obama just wants to pressure the Mayor to get on with the Guantanamo trials here in NY. Ain’t gonna happen. Don’t give in to his dirty pressure tactics Mayor Mike!
He should have saved the money and stayed in D C Look what it costs us for security, flight etc. He could give all this money he wastes for terror that he is taking away
