The ancient graves were excavated on Sunday to prepare for the construction of a fortified emergency room.

Later Monday, the bones will be transferred for burial at a secret site in order to prevent protests.

Predicting a repeat of Sunday’s protests, Interior Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch warned that “we will show no mercy toward rioters.”

Meanwhile, some 40 haredim were detained for questioning in Yaffo during demonstrations against the construction of a residential building on what they say is an ancient burial ground.

One wonders if it is better to be buried in Poland or Czechoslovakia rather than Eretz Yisroel. In Europe the worst that can happen is a swastika painted on the headstone. But in Isreal one risks being dug up by a shovel wielding
arab or archaeologist and dumped in a secret location…

it`s very sad , nobody is gonna take away the chillul Hashem that medinat israel is doing.
they claim eretz israel because of our forefathers and the Torah and at the same time they kick yiddishkeit and yidden with their feet . i don`t know who is worse , the goyim or the zionist haters of yaadut.

This is not the first time a kever has been moved for a derech harabbim. But now that it’s been done, I think the bones should be buried next to some Eidah Chareidis kevorim, since, after all, it’s clear to them that the bones aren’t from some shkotzim and ovdei avoda zara.

not every bone found in israel is a yiddish bone
    particularly
the bones at ashkelon were determined to be of byzantine origen
so why the protest ?? why create another chilul hashem by chareidi guys ?? why are they not working or learning ?? who gave them reshus to be mevatel limud hatorah ??

    as an aside
even jewish bones can be moved al pi halacha after 12 months in earth .. either to kever avos etc (see sanhedrin Harugei Beis Din) .. letzorech .. maybe a mes mitzvah is kone his 4 amos .. others ??

The entire geographic area of EY is located over graves, some jewish and some not. We cannot stop all consrtuction every time they find some bones, esepcially outside of any clearly marked kevorim. Otherwise, the whole country would be effectively off limits to new development. We should move the bones found in a respectful way to a new kever and continue with vitally needed construction, whether it be a new emergency room, family housing, schools or even a fellafal stand. The long-term growth of EY must take priority but we can do so in a respectful way and honor the niftarim with proper reburial.

All the medina lovers will always make excuses for the actions of the medina particularly if it gives them the opportunity to lash out at the real jews.
