Jerusalem – The United Torah Judaism has decided that the party’s Knesset members will not attend the weekly government no-confidence vote in protest against the decision to relocate graves in Ashkelon. It was further decided that each member of the faction would consult with his senior rabbis on whether to withdraw from the coalition over the affair.

The MKs will discuss their course of action in a faction meeting next week.
“This is an act of protest. It upsets us as members of the coalition to get such a slap in the face and have our important values disregarded,” a source in the faction said. He also noted, “True, it cost a little more money, but one pays money for values.”
MK Menachem Eliezer Moses noted at the beginning of the meeting that there are lands worth millions in several European cities on top of Jewish cemeteries with only Jewish pressure preventing construction there.
Moses claimed that European elements will be encouraged to build over Jewish tombs following the decision in Israel.
Earlier on Monday Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen said that 105 suspects were arrested in the recent wave of riots in Ashkelon, Jerusalem and Jaffa and added that “The police as a law-enforcing body is determined to follow the government’s decisions in the most professional manner while limiting the disruption of life of the law-abiding public in Israel.”
He further noted that police are careful not to violate the delicate balances required in the Israeli society.
Finnaly waking up,espically after yaffo. For that there was no excuse.
Why would these MKs “consult” with their rabbonim on what is clearly a political issue rather than a halachaic question. Is it any wonder that people are cynical when politically elected MKs have to run to their rebbe as to how and whether to vote in a motion of no confidence.
“The police as a law-enforcing body is determined to follow the government’s decisions in the most professional manner”
I wouldn’t thing that putting protestors in a police van for hours under the sun with closed windows and without water is a “professional manner”.
this should be reported to the human rights commission of the UN
WOW!!!
this is a real impressive move and it shows the true mesiris nefesh of the chareidy MKs
What mesiris nefesh of the chareidy MKsz?
This is a proper protest and is a lot more reasonably priced. A real protest ofr under a million shekels. What a metziah.
sure make it possible to have a government with out them real smart!
sham on israli govermant whte evry goy understands by tham it meens noting
what a shame i tought theese chareidi kneset members were reasonable people but i see they are just as guillible as those who riot this is too much too bear they riot over a tottal absolute idiocy not to remove a half a dozen nonjewish bones it is absolultly insane it boggles my mind how a human can be this stupid i think that they want is to wrest power from the nonreligious to domintae others with their mindless stupidity that is what this is all about just like in iran those muhlas who do anything to hold onto power this all about power not kiddush hashem what a shame what has become of yiddishkeit when absolute idiots are trying to dictate to us all
Oh I thought only the “extreme” eida hacheraids. Opposed digging up grave. hu? Now I see even the european goiyim also understand to respect the dead. So who are these people here supporting such actions? And all for an opportunity to bash chasidim. Must be some people with very high morals. Interesting
It is gratifying to see that hareidi Jews finally care about not desecrating holy Christian grave sites. What a bunch of morons
The Europeans don´t mind digging up old graves. They do it all the time. In the country where I live a family “own” a grave at a none Jewish cemetery for 50 years. And then, if nessecery, sombody else will be buried in same grave.
Oh how brave. Didn’t Rav Elyashiv already ‘say’ they shouldn’t be in the Knesset or was that last week’s controversy? Doesn’t anyone else realize that UTJ has been stuck at around 5 seats for decades while the voting-Charedi population continues to grow? Interesting.
If they are so worried about Jewish graves, whey didn’t they protest when Jewish graves in Gaza were moved?
“The United Torah Judaism has decided that the party’s Knesset members will not attend the weekly government no-confidence vote “
That is at best a Freudian slip and at worst a libel.
Perhaps the author meant to refer to the Israeli government’s weekly cabinet meeting? There is an enormous gulf between that and “the weekly government no-confidence vote “!
This has nothing to do with any sort of Kedusha. The fact is that the Charedim want the hospital moved to the second choice location which by the way they (Ger Chassidim) own and they would profit financially from. If it was about halacha then you would have seen Charedim actually fighting against the evacuation of Gush Katif were all the graves dug up WERE Jews.
