just to set the record straight the child was not in arrest when EMS arrived, bystanders stated that the child was in arrest but it was not witnessed by anyone with any medical degree. When the child was transfered he had a stable airway (intubated) and had stable vitals. Yes the child was extremely critical but there is no reason this child did not end up in a trauma center, the only reason the child ended up in coney is becuase you had FDNY do the transport and they do that to almost any serious tramua in the coney island area and yes whe should boycott coney becuase they just let the child deteriate to the point of no return

FDNY was just following their protocols. The child was in extremis (cardiac arrest) and needed to go to the closest hospital. And it has not been stated that apparently Coney did something right if the kid was alive for the last 8 or so days. So, instead of monday Monday morning quaterbacking, make sure you know what you are talking about.

its about time fdny is dealt with as well for transporting to a non trauma center acomplaint should be filed with the state they try to hold everyone else to higher standards than themselves, an embarrasment

let me just say as someone who knows this story first hand the reason the child ended up in coney is because fdny was there first with there bus and ALS they were nice enought to let hatzolah ride along but they made it very clear that they are prociding to coney and when hatzolah objected they said we are in charge.
It was a shame to just watch the way this kid just went downhill in the ER and hatzolah was helpless in getting anything done there since they don’t have any pull there
i know that they tried getting the child to lutheran or to shnieder but it was to late once things started moving along on coney’s side
it is about time we let the community know that coney is a killer rather than a hospital
and also hatzolah members should in the futher when they are working a scene like this they should demand to have the patienttaken to either one of the two tramua centers KCH or Lutheran this way the person has at least a chance to survive

dont know where u took that name from

    here is yesterdays post

October 3, 2006 — An 8-year-old Brooklyn boy, headed to his yeshiva on the eve of Yom Kippur, was hit by a car and critically injured while crossing a street, authorities said.

Meir Merry was fighting for his life after suffering severe head injuries Sunday night in Gravesend.

The boy had been walking along McDonald Avenue from his home to the nearby Magen David yeshiva when he was hit by a 1994 BMW as he crossed the busy street a block from the school, police said.

The 25-year-old driver, who had the right of way, struck him at about 7 p.m. while driving north, cops said.

The driver, whose name was not released, didn’t see the boy because his view was blocked by an elevated support column for the F train, police said.

Meir was rushed to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition.

His distraught family refused to comment yesterday.

“This is a holiday. We’re fasting. We don’t want to talk. We want the kid alive,” a family friend said.

No summons or charges were issued, said police, who described the incident as a tragic accident.

It was not clear if the boy was alone or accompanied when he was struck.
