A statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office late Monday said, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu makes it absolutely clear that Israel will not cooperate with and will not take part in any panel that seeks to interrogate Israeli soldiers.”
This followed an answer by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a news conference to question about whether had agreed to exempt Israeli soldiers from questioning before the panel.
“No, there was no such agreement behind the scenes,” Ban said.
They should just quit already.
Its not worth staying in the UN just to be accused of things by enemies the whole time.
Why not testify and let the world hear it first hand what isreali troops were up againts
gornit vet helfen.
Even if the UN does its usual stupidity it is important that Israeli soldiers testify. The soldiers’ statements become a matter of fact and law. They should testify. There is no legal basis for complaint after the fact if I they do not make their statements.
Not agreeing, then agreeing and then not agreeing makes us look like North Korea. Bibi’s leadership is evident in its lack. We were right to do what we did. Stand up, make the statements based on the truth in Court, back them with the release of documents if available, and deal with the stupidities from a position of moral and legal strength. Why the insistence on providing legitimate points of complaint to our enemies? Are there no Statesmen left in Israel?!
Why on earth would anyone debate a lynch mob?
#6 , you have a point Oib Velt Volt Gevain Velt, but because it is not, #7 is your answer. A good Statesmen like Yosef Tapuach A”H would make that clear.
Yosef Tapuach once represented Israel in the United Nations at the height of the Cold War, he was a very powerful speaker with a very sharp tongue who called the Soviet Union on the carpet and put them to shame, until they demanded that Israel recall him and send someone who’ll keep his mouth shut.
Correction; I meant Yosef Tekoa for those who want to look him up.
