Bloomberg has been among a few outspoken elected officials supporting the plans for an Islamic center and mosque two blocks from ground zero.

On Friday, President Barack Obama also backed the right for the developers to build a mosque there. He added over the weekend that he was not commenting on the wisdom of building a mosque close to ground zero.

Some have said it is insensitive because the terrorists who struck the buildings in 2001 were Islamic extremists.

Bloomberg applauded Obama on Monday for backing the mosque. He declined to read what he called nuances into the president’s additional remarks on Saturday.

The sad day is every day that Bloomberg is in office. Wake up Mayor, you’re supposed to represent the people of New York, and they don’t want it! It’s not rocket science, a clear majority of New Yorkers and Americans don’t want this mosque near ground zero. What part don’t you understand?

He is so ‘over doing’ it makes no sense…. It sounds like he is on the board of the mosque.

We cannot build a synagogue in Vatican City either. I don’t see anyone going after that. Anytime in history that Muslims were attacked, Jews went next. Jews who attack other religious minorities are asking for pogroms.

I once dreamed of Bloomberg becoming president. I was enamored of him. Now I see him as a BLOOMing idiot, and cannot wait for him to get out of the headlines and retire with his billions outside the U.S.A.

Its sad that most heimisha yidden don’t see that Bloomberg is right. Today America is anti-Islamic and that’s why the outcry. If this mosque is not aloud to be built it will be the beginning of the end of us Jews freedom to practice our religion freely. A billion Muslims cant be defined by Even 100,000 terrorists that hide behind that religion, just like we don’t want to be defined by the 100ppl. of the neturai karta {same ratio} or the few money swindlers we have been reading about. Lets think about our future in this country and support this mosque(if they can prove that the funds are legit).

all the comments here are hypocritical. jews and all people are allowed religious freedoms in this country. to say that america is more free than saudi arabia should be a good thing, but some comments here seem to say that we should try to emulate islamic dictatorships. anyway, there is already an islamic center 3 blocks away from the wtc site, it’s been there for years. let’s worry about our own problems please.

Yes they have a right to be there on a legal basis….BUT….with all the public outrage against it…the Muslim community should show it’s respect for the dead and the families of those killed and move it elswhere. The continued pushing for this location is nothing more than a slap in the face of all Americans and an obvious attempt by his highness Bloomberg to be soooooooooo polictally correct.
