The state gave the wrong budget information on the application for a $400 million Race to the Top grant and lost by only a few points.

Christie belittled federal bureaucrats for not allowing the state to correct the mistake. But his education commissioner admitted making the mistake after Christie fired him Friday for misleading him.

Senate President Steve Sweeney and Majority Leader Barbara Buono sent a letter to Christie on Tuesday urging him to take back his words.

Christie is brushing aside the criticisms and says Democrats should focus on solving New Jersey’s many problems.

Nobody gets to correct mistakes on federal grant proposals these days. Christie thinks he should be exempt from the rules that apply to everyone else.

I think that the Democrats are out of control. Why don’t they apologize to President George W. Bush for maligning him.
