This year has been filled with horrific decrees from Shomayim. We have to pray hard and sincerely this Rosh Hashona for a complete change of “policy” in Beis Din Shel Maaloh! How many more tragedies and how much more suffering do Bnei Yisroel have to endure? We have paid with enough Korbanois and the price was steep.

While everything is Yad Hashem and we should do more teshuva this time of year, I think it is also a good idea if we address various safety issues that seem to plague the frum community. I hear of far too many accidents involving children running into the streets and being hit by cars/busses, or being burned by channuka/ shabbos candle fires that get out of hand etc… we must do our hishtadlus to try to prevent such tragedies.

Having grown up in Monsey, I saw first hand how little children are often unattended in busy areas. I have no clue what the metzius was in this terribly sad case but I think we need to bring about more safety awareness. Kol Hakavod to Hatzalah which is already trying to do this.

Hatzoloh was in the hospital for the entire 2 1/2 hours it took to stabilize child, and stay (to be with the parents, etc.) until child was put on a helicopter. (in WMC another hatzoloh volunteer, A Reiner, took over.)

Hurray to DK (93), SS Silber (18) S. Reisman (132), A Steinberg, and the rest of the crew. ONLY because of their heroic efforts this child had at least a fighting chance.

Mi K’amcha Yisrael!!

(PS: for those yidden who like to bad mouth hatz. ask yourself if you would want the local volleys handle this was this C”V your child…)

What is the family’s last name and the child’s name? When did this accident happen, and where is the levaya?

To number 10, you never miss a chance for self promotion, even in the midst of a horrible tragedy.

They do deserve hakoras hatov for doing what they do. B”H for hatzalah. If it doesn’t get posted at such a time where would the reminder go?

To Mikelangelo (#5): I think this from the Artscroll Sefer Yehoshua, Perek 7, pasuk 6, footnote says it best:
According to Rambam (Hil. Taanis 1:1-3), it is a positive commandment of the Torah for every individual to cry out and search his ways at a time of national calamity, for G-d visits calamities upon Israel to inspire each Jew to repent for his misdeeds. If someone fails to recognize that tragedies occur through an act of G-d rather [than] through happenstance, he is considered cruel, because he will not be motivated to improve his behavior. as a result, G-d will beset Israel with more troubles, until all are motivated to change their ways.
