Magen David Adom Carmel crews evacuated the 30-year-old mother, Hava Shtudlener, in critical condition, her four-year-old son in serious condition and her two other children, aged three and one-and-a-half, in light condition, to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

En route to the hospital, MDA crews were able restore a viable heart rhythm for the mother after an extended resuscitation. However, after undergoing emergency surgery, in which doctors performed a cesarean delivery to retrieve the fetus, after being 30 minutes alive doctors were unable to save the unborn baby or the mother and their death was later pronounced, Channel 2 news reported.

The four-year-old, who suffered severe head trauma, was evacuated to Rambam while he was artificially respirated and in a comatose induced state. He later stabilized, and was downgraded to moderate condition, according to Channel 2 news

Police which arrived at the scene described the accident as “very severe.” According to initial investigations, the mother crossed the street in an area that was unmarked for pedestrian crossing.

Police said the driver was a 30-year-old resident of Haifa. He was arrested and will be investigated.

it would also help,if the drivers wouldnt drive like chayos. as is the norm in israel.and the people crossing the streets should be VERY careful before crossing over. we have to do our hishtadlus too. b’d’e

She was walking in an area unmarked for pedestrians. Who says the driver is at fault?

    To Shvartzi No. 14:
I am one of those Israeli drivers who “drive like chayos”. But when a women with 3 little children enters the street between parked cars my “wildness” is not relevant.

To 16 Greener: What a silly comment… of course it seems she was in the wrong but when you drive too fast and reclessly (as many Israeli drivers do) you are unable to respond to other peoples mistakes.
