    New York – MetroPCS Communications Inc., a regional cell phone company that mainly caters to low-income customers, has become the first U.S. carrier to use a new network technology that provides faster data access and is expected to become the industry standard.

    MetroPCS, which has 7.6 million subscribers, turned on Long Term Evolution, or LTE, service Tuesday in Las Vegas. It’s ahead of Verizon Wireless, which has 92 million subscribers and is the major carrier furthest along in its LTE plans.

    MetroPCS, which is based in Richardson, Texas, is selling a Samsung touch screen phone for $299 for the service.

    one big problem with metropcs is it doesn’t run a separate operating system such as Android therefore it is very hard to get any apps that is compatible with Brew their opereting system
