Jerusalem – Deputy FM: Israel Suspending Ties With UNESCO Over Rachel’s Tomb

Jerusalem – “Israel has no intention of cooperating with UNESCO,” Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon told the Knesset on Wednesday in response to the world culture organization’s decision to characterize the site of Rachel’s Tomb as a Muslim mosque.

“We should see the organization’s call to remove the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb from the list of Israel’s national sites as part of Palestinian escalation in international organizations,” he said.

“Israel rejects all five of UNESCO’s decisions and has no intention of cooperating with the organization,” the deputy FM added.

“We’ve decided to suspend our cooperation with UNESCO in these fields, and with regards to previous decisions.”

Other rightist politicians, including Knesset members Arieh Eldad (National Union) and Uri Orbach (Habayit Hayehudi) also blasted the organization’s decision.

Last week Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to UNESCO’s decision on Rachel’s Tomb and the Cave of Patriarchs by saying that “the attempt to disconnect Israel and its heritage is absurd.”

A statement released by Netanyahu’s office said, “It is unfortunate that an organization established in order to promote historic heritage sites around the world is trying, for political reasons, to uproot the connection between Israel and its heritage.”

UNESCO said Rachel’s Tomb is located on the site of a mosque and asked Israel to remove it, as well as the Cave of Patriarchs, from its list of heritage sites.

Very good decision. We do not need foreign islamized “culture” organizations robbing our heritage from us.

UNESCO is an an antisemitic organization as is the UN – all their decisions are controlled by the Arabs and are one-sided.

The muslems seem to be constantly adding new places as holy to them.

The Moslems called it Qubbat Rachel for generations. Suddenly, in an outburst of Arab nationalism, and despite their own misogyny, they changed the site’s name to Masjid Billal in 1997.

Rachel’s Tomb is the third most sacred site in Judaism.

you realize that in order for Islam and Xtianity to have any validity in the eyes of their own, they try to appropriate Jewish ideas, places, personalities. Because deep down they know, but they won’t admit, that the Jewish People is the legitimate chosen people with the legitimate history and true religion and is closest to the Almighty.

AIPAC or AJC should start a media blitz campaign against UNESCO erasing Jewish heritage. I’m sure they can be pressured to stop this nonsense. They already call Jerusalem Mohhamed’s house.

I AGREE WITH UNESCO is a Mosque on the same day unesco declares that the Vatican is also a a Mosque. Mohammed slept there don’t you remember. We are dealing with a bunch of crazy anti-semites. Next thing they will say is the Jews killed themselves in the Holocaust.
