Israel – Police have been trying to recruit the ultra-Orthodox population to its services, but has been unsuccessful, said the Special Populations Department Head Chief Superintendent Yael Amar during a conference in Sederot.

“The Israeli police have specific plans and willingness to recruit haredim to their services, but there is no response out in the field and no readiness on their part to integrate, even though spots have been opened specifically for them.

Maybe the only way to encourage them to work is by recruiting the help of rabbis and raising awareness in the community,” said Amar.

Perhaps if they open the position of Commissioner to a Heimishe Yid, they would get more responses from the Haredim.

how can they expect people who hate the State, have had such run-ins with the police force and view them as Nazis to join the force.
Also it would mean they would actually have a job and have to go to work every day.
It would mean contributing to society.

Until the Haredim wish to be part of the solution this project is not going to go very far.

With that said, Nachal Charedi turned out to be a huge success. Maybe they should try and follow that game plan and see what happens

The point of having charedi police is to better deal with charedim. Why would any charedi want a job where all his network and family will curse him as a Nazi, a kapo and a Judenrat member? First charedim will have to acknowledge that police have a legitimate role even if it involves enforcing unpopular laws in charedi neighborhoods.

Perhaps they should take a tip from the New York chareidim. Offer to load up the chareidi men with every conceivable color flashing lights etc. throughout every inch of their cars, including the very playful double sirens, and just watch how many will eagerly even volunteer!

They would only use the ultra chareidi to infiltrate and get information for them. Neither whites nor blacks or l’havdil anyone else wants to be used.

Israel Police needs a culutral awareness training when it comes to Haredi culture. Doesn’t the INP know that Haredim view the Israeli Government as the enemy of their people and helping it is “against the Torah.” Can you imagine a Haredi cop having to arrest a Haredi child abuser or sex offender or a rabbi that stole millions through fraud? For them it’s a “halachik problem” of working for the state against “their people.” Israel Police has better chances of recruiting Arab Israelis into their ranks who will be more enthusiastic and loyal than Haredi cops who will be intimidated by their communities for being anti-Torah traitors and “kappos.”

This is pointless. Chareidim cannot be relied upon to enforce the laws of EY. These jokers would run to their rebbe to ask if its OK before they even issued a parking ticket. We would be better off with more Arab citizens of EY in the police forces than recruiting yidden who have no education, no understanding of the real world and no loyalty to the medinah.

Charedim are not stupid people. They know that if they are hired in the Zionist police, they will be used as a gestapo.
