Salt Lake City – A college student has posted a video on the Internet in which he strips down to a Speedo bathing suit to protest security measures at Salt Lake City airport.

The video was purportedly shot Tuesday in a security line, but an airport official reported another Speedo protest was taking place Wednesday.

In the video, a Transportation Security Administration agent asks the student, “Sir, what are you doing?!”

“This is a safety precaution, man,” the student replies. “Just making sure I don’t have any trouble.”

“Put your clothes back on!” an agent orders before the protester tries to explain that he plans to dress after exiting a metal detector.

“Put your clothes back on!” the agent repeats.

The protester refuses and tells a TSA supervisor, “I looked on the TSA website and it didn’t say anything about going through in a bathing suit.”

Agents then try to coax the man to at least put on a shirt.

“I will on the other side — is that cool?” he replies.

Agents finally give up and let the man remain in his briefs.

The student was identified only as Jimmy on the blog complaining of “ridiculous” screening procedures at U.S. airports. The footage was taken by a video camera filming from a security line conveyor belt.

On Wednesday, a man in a swim suit, boots and cap was walking around a terminal, airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said.

He also spent time outside the terminal in frigid temperatures.

“He’s being allowed to exercise his freedom of speech,” Gann said. “That Speedo guy is definitely provocative.”

The TSA saw no reason to take action.

“He’s not a security threat,” said TSA spokesman Dwyane Baird at the Salt Lake airport. “We would have no reason to detain him.”

If these idiots want to entertian us while waiting on line, thats great but no one really cares about their meshugaas. I went through security again last night at LAX on my way back to New York and the lines went somoothly and no one complained about the pat downs. I suspect, that most of the whiners have never been to an airport and sit at their computers and kvetch on the issue de jeur. Its only reinforced our belief that these teabaggers and libertarians are a bunch of nutcases.

Good for him! If there’d be no problem of tznius, maybe I would do it to in protest of all these meshugene TSA rules.

The TSA and the type of people (that is, their economic and educational levels) it recruits are reminiscent of Nazi Germany and its pre-war “security” concerns in the 1930’s (also called Homeland Security, by the way).

The exact same type of issues were brought up then, all of which were defended at first as being unpleasant but necessary for the public safety.

It all comes slowly at first.

I’ll bet he didn’t have to under go a pat up or a very visual pic because they could see all what he had anyway!

In a few days this pat down issue will quiet down and it will be in the normal routine in order for you to fly somewhere from the US.

This is the only time you will ever hear one of these tsa sky clowns telling someone to put ON clothes. Normally they are telling you to get out of them.

My thought, and I am more and more convinced this is coming…that when we arrive at the airport, we remove all our clothes in men’s/women’s locker rooms, our clothes are then checked through to our final destinations…then, totally naked, we do the quick “naked spin” in front of same gender TSA screeners and are handed light cotton robes/slippers to wear for the duration of the flight. I would find that less offensive than being x-rayed or groped.

If security is proffesional they change their routine daily without letting people know what they gonna aim at here in the dumm us they tell all the terrorist exactly where they gonna check and where they won’t… I think u could still hide in your hair sHhhhhh don’t tell anyone

Actually, this is probably what they ultimately want to accomplish, to make everyone strip completely, so I’m not sure his protest is helpful. Probably just moving us closer to the end game.

Miami is liberal? Maybe a bit but florida is very conservative. I own more guns than pairs of pants
