The offer, called FareLock, will give travelers three days or a week extra while they decide whether to buy the ticket or let the reservation expire.
Continental said Monday that it will charge a fee of at least $5 to hold a reservation for three days and at least $9 to hold it for a week.
The fee will vary depending on the length of the hold, the itinerary, and how soon the passenger plans to travel.
I believe Airlines are whoreing themselves, every new trick they come up with to make an extra buck. Shame on you.
Shame on you. They’re trying to survive.
Actually its one of the few “extra charges” that makes sense and I would willingly pay to lock in a very low fare while I shopped for hotel rooms and cheaper options.
Interesting that CO is doing it now. What happens when they are totally swallowed into UA? I guess that “feature” goes too.
I am very happy with this new feature..I checked a ticket to Las Vegas 3 weeks ago and it was $209. round trip which i wanted to hold but couldnt till i confirmed that i will be flying. When i actually bought the ticket it ws $338 ….I would gladly pay $5 to hold my reservation on the lower fare..i believe its a brilliant marketing idea for Continental tha their customers will stay flying with them…
