Anat Hoffman has been awaiting her fate since being arrested in August amid a worsening debate about her campaign to allow women to pray at Judaism’s holiest site in the same way as men.

The police have now chosen to ask prosecutors to charge her with “disrupting a policeman performing his duties under dire circumstances”, a crime that carries a mandatory prison sentence of up to three years.

Good. It’s about time the chickens came home to roost.

Now that they’ve locked her up, the police can now turn their attention to actual criminals.

This could backfire. Hoffman should instead be handed a restraining order that keeps her away from the Kosel for life.

That will teach Jewish women to pray at Judaism’s holiest site!

Maybe she’ll do more time for exercising her civil and religious rights than Katsav will do for rape.

Why can’t women pray in the women’s section of the Kotel? There is mehitza and if the men were davening, like they should, they would see the women.

A little harsh don’ t you think? Removing her from the kosel would have been sufficient. I’m wondering what’s with Israel and all these women’s prohibitions. …no driving. possibly no walking because of tzinus, and now jail time for davening. Let’s take their right to vote away, and not allow them an education either. Then we can brag that we’re the only group of people who have enslaved women, or ….we can hide our faces in shame.
