Kelly spoke about the need for securing the site at an event Tuesday for the nonprofit Police Foundation. The 9/11 memorial will open on Sept. 11, 2011, and the new buildings will open after that.
Kelly has named a deputy commissioner for the World Trade Center command who is working on a security plan for the memorial service on the 10-year anniversary of the attacks.
Kelly says the site needs special attention because it remains a target for terrorists.
How is that going to protect it from another Ch’V air attack?
what a waste of manpower , however just like the big snow storm that we just had , Manhattan gets well taken care off at the expense of the rest of the city.
once again the city over reacts over 600 officers at the WCT will do a lot lets see officers controlled the garage in 1993 but a bomb got in on 9/11 even if we had them there with PA offices they could not have stopped the planes Sorry but lets see some cops in brooklyn we pay taxes and need protection as well or mr mayor should we all go to broadway for a show
Brooklyn, NY was an independent city, until 1898, with its own police force. It is about time that Brooklyn declared its independene from City Hall. In that way, it could best manage its own resources, vis-a-vis snow removal, garbage collection, and assignment of police personnel.
So why are our taxes and tolls paying for the Port Authority Police Department?
Or why are we paying for NYPD to patrol a Port Authority of NY/NJ site?
(1) Ridiculous and wasteful duplication of effort
(2) NYPD overkill and grandstanding
