The victim was found behind a kosher food market in North Lawrence by municipal workers who stopped to turn around their salting truck.
Nassau Police Lt. Kevin Smith says it appeared the man tried to light some cooking-fuel cans at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
At the same time, he apparently tried to clean himself with some body wash liquid that contained alcohol. Police believe the flames from the cooking cans ignited the body wash, leaving the man to suffer fatal burns.
A volunteer ambulance crew attempted to assist, but police said he had already died.
The man’s identity was not immediately known.
Sounds like it was behind brachs

What a tragedy. Unable to find shelter in this weather, forced to try to keep himself warm, and dying such a cruel death.
This great country of ours has money to help everyone else around the globe but we have homeless and hungry people right here at home and look at the fate that befalls some of them.
good wrongful death case. But since his earnings were nil, i suppose the case is worth nil.
How many of you actually know homeless people? I’m talking about the type that lives in the streets, in the subways or in the parks. I know quite a few and not one of them wants another life style. We have shelters through out New York and New Jersey. A lot of them will go to shelters when the temperatures get extreme. As one put it to me last week, ” it feels like spring now compared to 2 weeks ago”. I beg this one particular guy to go to a shelter on a regular basis he refuses unless its close to 5 degrees outside. These people don’t want better lives they are happy believe it or not with this life style. One guy decided one day he no longer wants to work, quit his high paying job and left his wife. Guess where he moved? None other then a park, he grew his beard out, lived with a dog. He unfortunately froze to death after being on the streets for 10 years. This is the life they choose many times with alcohol. Alcohol is an extremely dangerous drug.
