David Guth, of the Northern Eruv Incorporated, said he was disappointed that after working with the council for four years on the project it was rejected.
“After years of working with the council on the eruv (wall) we are surprised at the outcome,” Mr Guth said.
A council spokesman said one pplication was withdrawn after the council raised concerns about the impact of landscaping in the area.
Another application was rejected due to inadequate standard of information, uncertainty about what the application involved and a lack of permission from affected property owners.
Google “youtube community disagreement” and you will see why it was rejected. Jews need a bit of eloquent PR locally and internationally. Hopefully they can appeal the decision.
St Ives is a wonderful community, with many Shomer Shabbos residents.
Among that group are professional who I am sure will find a way to bring the local authorities on board…………..yerida letzorech aliya
Eventually the Eruv will be erected ,Please G-d.
