New York, NY – The Department of Transportation told a handful of civic leaders that it could add new lanes to five blocks in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill, and is considering reversing traffic flow on Congress Street between Court and Hicks streets to better serve cyclists pedaling to Brooklyn Bridge Park.

But car traffic on Congress between Hicks and Columbia streets won’t be reversed, forcing eastbound vehicles to turn left on Hicks Street to the newly “laned” Amity Street.
That means cars and trucks will be rumbling past a nursing home and the emergency room of Long Island College HosPital, creating a deadly traffic nexus, appalled residents said.
