Egypt – Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his family have amassed wealth beyond their means, according to the nation’s financial-oversight agency.

The state news agency said yesterday Mubarak, his wife and two sons own several palaces and luxury apartments.

The elder son, Alaa, is apparently the richest, followed by Gamal, who was groomed by his father to be president.

Mubarak, the father, has the least wealth.

Before the year is over, we will wish the Mubareks were back in control of Egypt again. I have a feeling this will end badly for EY.

At the end of the day, Mubarak did the honorable thing and stepped down, with very very little violence, compared to others in the region he was less hostile to Israel and was a friend to the US. He doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment. They should make him a farewell party and let him live out his years with a few dollars.

The amount he stole was roughly equal to all the US aid to his country since he took power. That’s some Olympic-level corruption.
