The officials say the plan calls for the formation of a single caretaker government in the coming days, and preparations to hold presidential and legislative elections a year from now.
The officials say the agreement was reached through Egyptian mediation. They spoke on condition of anonymity before a formal announcement in Cairo later Wednesday.
Despite the agreement, key questions remain about who will control the rival security forces.
Disagreements over security control erupted into the June 2007 civil war that ended with Hamas seizing control of Gaza.
Just one question, did hamas agree with the PA vis a vis peace with Israel or the other way around.
This peace will last from ‘Taanis Esther’ till Purim.
We’ve heard this shidduch “redd” several times in the past. I wouldn’t count on it making it through the sheva brochos.
Hey Professor #2 , don’t you mean the Sheva klollos…?
The purpose of this sham agreement is to facilitate Abbas’ attempt to obtain recognition of a Palestinian state from the EU and UN. He wouldn’t get an endorsement for a state if he ruled over only half the Palestinians. This bodes badly for Israel.
now hamas will transfer weapons and missles directly to the PLO terrorists. it doesnt look good..
and how does the UN recognize the state of a new government that is formed with a categorized terrorist group?
Is Peace Viable?
If you look at history objectively, you will see the delusional public/nations who believe the Arabs want peace. Peace is not in their vocabulary.
All they know is dictatorship abuse its people and terrorize the world. They call non-Moslem infidel and must be eliminated.
If they truly want peace with Israel – It will benefit all parties involved, you would take Israeli technology and know how combine it with Arab labor and resources and within 10 years you would have one of the most flourishing economies in the world. But the world at large is not interested in that peace; it will compete successfully in world markets.
It is imperative that Israelis be unified to withstand the pressures put upon Israel by the Arabs and the World at large.
While talking about the false rights of the Arab/Palestinians – How about the rights of about a Million Jews that were ejected from Arab countries and their homes and assets confiscated.
