In a critical 10-page ruling released Monday, Commissioner David Steiner sustained an appeal lodged by district parent Steve White in August to stop the sale of school to the New Square congregation for $3.2 million.

White had appealed on the grounds that the East Ramapo Board of Education had approved the sale in July 2010 at price far below the $10.2 million market value assigned to the 12-acre property by the Clarkstown Assessor’s Office.

In his report, Steiner writes that the board “abused its discretion by hastily approving the sale of Hillcrest to the Congregation and that such sale must be set aside.”

I am sure that the whole uproar that is happening now in N. S. Didn’t help this case.
The judge was afraid to rule in favor of N.S. And then be accused that he is also bribed by the N.S. Heads of state.
Let’s hope that this is not the first fallout of more to come.

So the repercussions of the arson attack are now starting to be felt.

Or, how about they did something fishy with the sale and that’s what its about? It was sold for a huge amount under fair market value…Money under the table perhaps?
Maybe there was more than one issue in NS policies… (the school and the arson) and they weren’t one and the same.

It doesn’t help that the East Ramapo School Board President, Nathan Rothschild, was indicted for selling this school at a lower price to pay off his partners. He was indicted for mail fraud.

The reality is that in todays market 10 million price tag is probably not real.

10 mil, I don’t think so, let them put it on the market, I’m willing to bet the NS offer will stand

“Wrong!!! The charges against Rothschild stem from his role as president of the Monsey Fire District; nothing to do with East Ramapo. “

Check the Court documents. Rothschild offered the school at a lower price to the Yeshiva because he is being sued for millions of dollars by former business partners who are on the board of the Yeshiva. He was arrested for mail fraud and his trial is coming up. He also had shady dealings with the Monsey Fire department, but that is not why he was indicted. The Monsey fire department is a separate issue. Who knows, he may be indicted for more offenses.
