His lawyer says there’s no “factual basis” showing Grand Rabbe David Twersky directed the May 22 attack.

The Journal News says Attorney Franklyn Snitow moved Monday to have the $18 million lawsuit dismissed.

Plaintiff Aron Rottenberg claims Twersky targeted him because he began praying at another synagogue other than the village’s principal one.

Another resident, 18-year-old Shaul Spitzer, has been charged with attempted murder, attempted arson and assault. He’s pleaded not guilty. His lawyer says Twersky wasn’t involved in the attack.

Rottenberg’s lawsuit also names Spitzer. His lawyer says he will file opposition papers with the court.

Let the facts come out. If he in fact had no knowledge of the attack and did not direct or encourage it in anyway, the lawsuit should be dropped. If it can be proven that he did in fact lead this, he should be arrested and tried along with this kid for attempted murder. Of course, every penny he owns should be transferred to the victim.

Nothing happens in New Square without the Rebbe’s approval.

Let the facts speak for themselves. If he had nothing to do with it then he should have nothing to worry about. Being a person in power shouldn’t exempt you from having to face the music should you be involved in some nefarious happenings.

How could he NOT know about the attack, when we all know the Rebbe knows when anyone sneezes? If he didn’t stop him from doing this, he is a guilty as Spitzer.

Not true! His kids don’t tell him everything and they’re behind everything! He does not sign off on everything, his kids do! They should be prosecuted!

hmm, seems to me that the rebbe is afraid of the truth coming out. if he had nothing to hide, he wouldnt be trying to get it thrown out.

You people are ridiculous. If, lhavdil, a Democrat attacks a Republican, should he sue Obama? Of course not. Sometime people do stupid thing on their own without consulting the man on top. And Obama may even not visit the sick republican in the hospital and he may even be awfully silent on the matter, but that wouldn’t mean Obama had prior knowledge of an attack! Grow up guys. (Unless it could be proven otherwise, which the plaintiff would have to present the evidence if he wants to sue somebody).

What is the frum velt coming to?!? We’ve had so many tragedies, and we still haven’t learned that we need to have achdus and stop hurting each other? The fact that a yid did this to another yid, regardless of whether he had the Rebbe’s approval or not, is no better than what Levi Aron did to Leiby a”h.

Every additional chumra that we take on because of some crazy OCD sefer on tznius (for example), serves to separate us from each other. Everything must be separate: shuls, schools, eruvim, kashrus, neighborhoods, rabbonim etc. The larger we grow the worse it gets. The old generation felt achdus as an imperative among different types of jews, especially in the aftermath of WW2. The new generation simply does not get to know (even frum) jews of a different stripe at all…we shun anyone who is not like us.. How are our children supposed to learn to care about other jews ? It is like different religions.

The suit against the rebbe has no chance since there is no proof.
