Santa Ana, CA – Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez today released a statement saying she wants to meet with and apologize personally to Irv Chase and his son Ryan Chase for remarks in which she accused the downtown landlords of “ethnic cleansing” and compared Irv Chase to Adolf Hitler.

Alvarez made those remarks during the council’s Aug. 24 meeting.
“I have personally and through others reached out to the Chase family and to the ADL requesting to meet so I can apologize to them in person and have a constructive dialogue.
Alvarez has apologized in interviews with TV, print and web journalists, but she had previously said she wouldn’t apologize directly to the Chases, who are Jewish, for her remarks.
The City Council on Tuesday will consider whether Alvarez violated the city’s code of ethics and conduct with the remarks.
She should be ashamed of herself for calling that man “Hitler”! What’s the matter with people anyway?!
It seems like the evil dictator’s name gets thrown around all the time- we use it to describe politicians we don’t like, we use it to describe enemies of our country that we don’t like…we use it to describe just about everything we don’t like!
But it’s NOT a name that should be thrown around all over the place without any thought given to it! And I would think especially, it would be hard for survivors of the Holocaust to have to hear that word all the time as well!
The woman might not get fired for her remarks, but if she had any decency, she would resign from her post immediately.
Let her apologize to the walls. She is a JEW HATER from the getword go.
