Uman – Six Jewish worshipers have been arrested by police in Uman a week before the expected arrivals of tens of thousands of others. “I’m very worried,” said Chabad Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman who is one of three claiming the title Chief Rabbi of Ukraine. “Already six are arrested and that’s before everyone has arrived.”

A record number of worshipers are expected to visit the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman during the high holidays this year after the Ukrainian government waived visa restrictions on Israelis.
“It’s a small place,” said Azman. “There’s no order and everyone is going there which leads to confrontations.”
What were they arrested for?
No rachmanos.
The Jews were warned not to travel to a country with a history of anti-Semitism that rivaled Nazi Germany, y.s.
Any problems that these Jews incur will be of their own making.
They should have stayed in Eretz Yisrael and davened at the Kivrei Tzadikim in Yerushalayim, Tiveria, Sfat, and Chevron.
And, wow, already three claims for the title “Chief Rabbi of Ukraine”. Really impressive.
The violations include walking in a local town street with beer, driving without a license, and other unspecified crimes.
The passports of the six Breslov Chassidim were taken and banned from ever returning.
They were released within 24 hours.
This meshugaas has gone far enough. With all the craziness going on this week and next at the UN and the IDF preparing for major rioting in the West Bank, we need to worry about these Breslover groupies running off to one of the most anti-semitic countries in the world and waste tens of millions of dollars to daven at Rav Nachman’s kever. At this point, if they still go, and get arrested, they deserve to rot in jail after all the pleas for them to stay home with their families on the yamim noraim.
This whole thing of a bunch of men traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashannah without the wives is avodah zara. they should be with their families on Rosh Hashanah. This is outrageous and should be stopped.
So we have six Breslov (or were they Lubavitch) chassidim arrested for public drunkedness on the streets of Uman before the party and Rav Nachman celebration even officially starts and one of them claims to be the “chief rabbi of Ukraine” ???? What am I missing here??
Thats pure antisemitism!! In Ukraine every second person walks with a bottle of vodka all the time, if they wanna start arresting for drinking on the street they might as well put a gate over Ukraine..
What is this a week before rosh hashanah your insulting your fellow Jew infront of others!? It’s not only lashon hara but motsi Shemra! Only if you knew how many gedolim and talmidei hachamim go each year! It might not be your minhag or way of doing but it is for 50 000 men! To all of you who address to them as ovdei avoda zara
Three Chief Rabbis of the Ukraine?!? What are they? A bunch of chasidish Rebbe brothers??
Uman is the place to be Rosh hashona like Lagbomer is in Meron. I was there in the mid 1990s when only 7 thousand people came. It must be pact if 50 thousand people are coming. WOW Ithink these Jews are the finest of our people. Kol hakoved.
#9 & #17 – B”H – thanks for making me laugh…I needed it after reading the other comments, am I the only one who found the humor?
None of them work. How can they afford hotels, air fare and meals?
