It was unclear when the event started or how many were in attendance but reporters saw dozens of people walking from a church to another building. Soft music could be heard coming from there later.

Apple spokesman Todd Wilder tells reporters he’s been there since 2 p.m. PDT. He says it’s a private event and he can’t release any details about it. Stanford has also declined comment.

Earlier, guards directed the handful of reporters to a parking lot several hundred yards away from Stanford’s Memorial Church where the service was held.

Additional personnel behind steel barricades allowed only a smattering of vehicles to enter the area.

Jobs was the mastermind behind popular gadgets such as the iPhone and iPad. He died Oct. 5 at age 56 after struggling for years with pancreatic cancer.

It doesn’t surprise me that his funeral was so private. Not only was he a very private man… but I also read somewhere that that crazy Christian group from Kansas who travels all over the country protesting soldier’s funerals & etc., were actually planning on attending Job’s funeral & protesting THERE as well!

*sigh* When will those lunatics be silenced?! They drive me batty! I’m all for Freedom of Speech… but isn’t there a line that *could* be drawn, when it comes to protesting people’s funerals?! Can’t the funeral home directors kick them off the property?!

Isn’t there ANYTHING the police can do to stop them?! Ticket them for harassment, or disturbing the peace or something?!?!

Can you just imagine if c’v’ your son or daughter died… and those crazy people showed up out of NOWHERE holding up signs saying things I can’t even repeat in this forum?! It makes me very angry to think about what the poor families have had to suffer!

When soldier died here where I live…a group of bikers showed up to hide those crazy people so the family wouldn’t have to see them & their stupid signs.

I was never so happy to see a pack of Harley Davidson’s in my life! (lol)

    RIP Steve

Yes. They (that crazy group of bigots) can be stopped. But the problem seems to be political correctness. Most politicians are afflicted with it. They don’t want to appear as restricting constitutional freedom. But there should be a distinction made. The average protesting, or dissenting group should have their constitutional rights protected. But an exception should be made for such dangerous and cruel individuals who are showing themselves to be subhuman. To add to the pain of a family who are trying to honor a loved one, whether a soldier who gave his or her life for the country or any other deceased person, is the ultimate in cruelty. Law enforcement officers should be ordered to arrest them the moment they show up at a family event.
