The Texas congressman on Tuesday said U.S. aid to Israel “teaches them to be dependent” and reduces their sovereignty. He also says the Middle East nation should be free to conduct its foreign policy without worrying how the United States will react and perhaps punish it with fewer dollars.

Rival Michele Bachmann says Israel “is our greatest ally” and spending to the country shouldn’t be cut. The Minnesota congresswoman says she would rather see “nations that we have liberated” such as Iraq and Libya pay back the United States for money it spent there.

I must say I agree with him, as an “american” I don’t want to give my tax money to anyone besides my own country, we need the money desperetely.

Now of course this is not the only wrong place america puts my money but its one of them.

The bad news is: such a statement will send him home to taxas

Ron Paul is against such aid for ALL countries not just the State of Israel. It’s time America had leaders whose first, second and third loyalty is America.

Here is a true fiscal conservative. Let’s see how all those proposing cuts to social programs because of their political philosophies react to this. If you are against tax and spend then put your money where your mouth is.

Fool. The aid to Israel is one of the best investments the US Government has. It has the greatest returns, both financially, and in world politics. This cannot be said of the aid given to Muslim countries, the greatest percentage of which is used in terror – both against Israel and US. This cost him the Jewish vote for sure, but also that of anyone with saichel.

He is right. EY no longer needs American foreign or military aid. That would free up Israeli governments from having to shape their policy to American politics and Obama-like pressures.

    Duh, he’s a libertarian. That’s not anti-Israel, he’s just an isolationist.
The REAL scary part was when they asked about the Gilad Schalit trade. Now I understand there are good arguments for either side with the trade. But Paul interjected, about the palestinian prisoners, that they were suspects, not terrorists. He said something about them not being convicted or tried? Not sure because he was talking at the same time as someone else. But he definitely said that they were only suspects. There was a faint “boo” but I don’t know why nobody is bringing this up now!

Ron Paul would walk around in his underwear all day long if he could. Being conservative, he could save money on clothing too. What a man!

Ron Paul for President. That is the most zionistic statement any of the presidential haopefulls have made.

While in the short term this would be tough, Israel would quickly realize how liberating it is not to be financially dependent on the US.

But how about all the help and info that Israel gives the US, thats worth every penny that that they receive? Isn’t this what allies do?
Sounds kind of like what they all sound like before they get elected.

note to VIN: this headline is very deceiving “Las Vegas, NV – Ron Paul: End Aid To Israel” Ron Paul is not an anti semite, he’s just pro America, a fiscal conservative who disagrees with U.S foreign policy..

The pro Zionist media wants everyone to think he was talking only about the State of Israel which is a lie.
I say Go Ron Go! Ron Paul for President!

this issue is not so simply. Is he talking about ending humanitarian aid to all countries? I’m not so sure that is the best course of action. On the other hand if it will cut aid to the palestinians then I’m all for it. I don’t think he said he would cut military aid or discourage international trading and military cooperation with Israel. When you are strapped for money, you have to focus your charitable efforts at home first and then when things are better you can afford to help others more. I like what Cain said, help your friends, not your enemies. if that standard were to be applied then Israel certainly qualifies for aid.

All you people who support Ron Paul: wake up! He is not a friend of the Yidden, and his economic program would utterly ruin this country. He would be a total disaster! Out of the entire GOP lineup, he is the most dangerous. The others are just buffoons. I say this as a long time Republican. I will probably be voting for Obama next year.

Although I agree with Ron Paul , u guys r wrong that it would free up Israel from being reliant on the US, don’t forget all the UN resolutions and military arms and etc… That the US helps out with…. I agree with Ron because I’m a libertarian

Whoever wrote this article has the view that if anything is bad for the Jews and doesn’t allow maximum handouts for us, it must be rooted in antisemitism. How wrong that is. I could imagine an article with the headline “Antisemitic NY Governor starves Jewish children and forces them them walk many miles each day” if the NY state funds ran out and the state had to cut back on aid to all private schools including lunch money and buses!

Folks, this isn’t Czarist Russia. Come on out of the shtetel and learn how government works. Not everyone is out to get you, even if their ideas and programs don’t give you want you want. You can use gov’t and lobby for what you too, but don’t call them all Jew haters. It’s makes you look selfish and stupid.

For those of you applauding ron paul for his statement. Wrong. For those of you arguing that this is a good thing for israel so they are independed. Well, wrong again.

Remember, Israel cannot survive one day without the backing of the united states. That’s just a fact

I am cracking up right now! (lol)

If our President even *hinted* at the idea of no longer giving aid to Israel, because they have grown “too dependant” on us…. he would be attacked by every one on this forum!

“See… we KNEW he was a secret Muslim who hates Israel!”

But a crazy Libertarian says it… and it’s FINE with all of you!

This aid to Israel does nothing for the average Israeli. As Moshe Feiglin will tell you, Israel has to use it to buy uniforms for the IDF – made in the USA!! And other such foolish “strings” attached to the money. Israel should cut the strings proactively. The cost is greater than the benefit. Ron Paul has a good point, too. But Cain is more sensible.

Had the U.S. invented “Iron Dome” it would have cost the taxpayer probably 100 billion dollars. That technology alone covers every CENT Israel has ever received from the United States. Then you add in the CT scan, the Pentium chip, the drip technology in agriculture, plus the improvement to tanks and fighter jets, the techniques Israel developed in close quarter fighting, airport security, non-lethal crowd dispersal, the Nobel Prize winning scientific achievements, and ON and ON. Let’s face it, in many regards Israel is a client state of the U.S. and so yes, it makes things more difficult on the world stage because America has to contend with most of the Muslim world that wants to destroy Israel and lots of Europe that would like the Muslims to do their dirty work for them, but America gets so much in return. And most of all the United States supports Israel from a MORAL standpoint, and a religious standpoint. So despite the Arabs’ and the Jew-Hating Europeans’ best efforts the people and government of the U.S. stand with Israel.

To #14 I agree with you. Has anybody else bothered to check what Israel makes for our US Armed Forces, Army, Marines, Air Force and Medics?? From drones, to helmets, bandages, tanks — please double check. Then have Ron Paul answer!! I did not include any info. from one govt to another!! That is another story!! We ought to have a bkpr for this!!

It is true that Ron Paul has the support of a lot of neo-nazi groups and white supremacists. I can’t stand him, and he is no friend of Yidden. Regarding foreign aid to EY, in 1984, when Shimon Peres was interviewed by CNN, he stated “there will come a day when Israel will no longer need a penny from the United States”. It is possible for EY to continue right now without receiving any money from Uncle Sam.

Because the aid comes with strings attached, it ends up hurting Israel . The aid must be used in purchasing American weapons which undermine the Israeli weapons industry and enables the US government to squeeze Israel-a la Settlement freeze

    Go ahead Ron…end our alliance w/ Israel……see where that get’s us.If true….he just lost a massive Jewish vote…Idiot!
