Prince Khaled bin Talal, brother of billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, told the kingdom’s al-Daleel TV station by telephone Saturday that he was raising a previous offer made by Sheik Awadh al-Qarani, a prominent Saudi cleric who promised $100,000 for capturing an Israeli soldier.

“I tell Sheik al-Qarani that I support you and I will pay $900,000 to make it one million dollars to capture an Israeli soldier to release other prisoners,” said a voice identified as Prince Khaled, who holds no official position in the government.

The Saudi offers follow in the wake of the release of Israeli soldier Sgt. Gilad Schalit, who was held by Hamas in Gaza for more than five years. Israel has agreed to free over 1,000 prisoners in exchange.

Prince Khaled said he made the offer in response to what he said were Israeli threats against Qarani’s life. He did not provide any further details.

Does this offer really surprise anybody? It must always be remembered that 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11/01, were from Saudi Arabia. In 1990, the Saudis also tried to prevent American Jewish soldiers from being sent to Saudi Arabia, as part of Operation Desert Shield.

This is the flip side of the Shalit deal. What if 10 soldiers are captured? Will Israel release 10,000 terrorists? This is obviously not a sustainable strategy. Israel needs to go back to demolishing the family homes of known terrorists. These animals only understand force.

How bout they pay the 1 Million dollars straight to Israel in exchange for some prisoners, maybe Israel would take the deal. Why do the have to capture Israeli soldiers for this.

Saudi Arabia sits on a sea of petroleum and we are helping them to bankroll all terrorists. Buy a smaller car and drive more carefully using less gas

Buy a smaller car, use less gas, and they will reduce output to keep prices up.
