Monsey, NY – The number of customers without electricity in the Orange and Rockland Utilities territory rose by 12,000 Tuesday as damaged tree limbs continued to give way and contact electric lines. That number was also impacted by repair work requiring customers to be temporarily taken out of service in order to get others safely restored.

The utility had anticipated having 90 percent of impacted customers back up by midnight tonight, but pushed that back by one day.
As of Wednesday morning, 21,700 customers are still in the dark in Rockland County, 3,900 in Orange County, 12,600 in Bergen County and 1,800 in Passaic County.
What a load of garbage. This “utility” company is a joke. I wonder how many of the executives and workers at O & R are without power in their homes. Maybe we should all decide to pay our bills a week or two late and see if O & R says “OK”.
People I know will be getting back saturday or after the weekend! Its a mess and they did not handle this well at all!
It’s terrible to be without power. We should all appreciate the G-dly power that fills our lives, moment after moment, without interruption and be ever grateful for the goodness that Hashem does for us. For turn off the power for even one moment and it would all be over. One of friends just departed this world last week so the message of the invisible, never ending power supply hits home.
This is taking way too long! O&R should be sued! This is ridiculous!
New York State =>a third world community. Why is this Orange & Rockland Utilities taking so long to get its **** together?
