In the past year hopes grew that Pollard might be released, after many Israeli officials from the government, defense and judicial systems turned to US President Barack Obama, pleading he cut down Pollard’s sentence and set him free.

According to a Monday report in Yedioth Ahronoth, Obama has been flooded with hundreds of requests in recent months demanding the Israeli spy’s pardon – but he has remained adamant in his refusal.

Many people across the globe will be marking the anniversary of Pollard’s imprisonment Monday with a new campaign calling supporters to “bombard” the White House with phone calls demanding his release. The campaign has even set up a special phone line for the cause, which will enable Israeli supporters to call Washington for the cost of a local phone call.

Campaign organizers reported that the “presidential pardoning season” – during which the president usually pardons felons – has begun in the US. The organizers said they were hopeful Pollard might be released this year.

I don’t condone what Mr. Pollard did, but do condemn the unfair treatment he has received.
I really wonder if President Obama has the guts to weather the storm that may follow a pardon of Pollard.
With all that said I do hope he finally can gain his long overdue freedom…enough is enough.

I compare Obama’s refusal to commute Pollard’s sentence, with Reagan’s obstinate attitude, regarding cancelling his trip to Bitburg. The more protests that Reagan was exposed to, the more he dug in his heels. The Israeli Government could help Pollard if they wanted to, by returning the hundreds of documents which Pollard furnished them with, as well as turning over Aviem Sella, who is still under federal indictment. If they would play ball, Pollard would walk tomorrow. There is an old saying that “it takes two to tango”.

I strongly disagree. I’m not sure that granting a pardon would trigger a new holocaust risking the lives of millions of yidden. While I regard Pollard as a diversion from the real priorities of the American Jewish community and I don’t think the majority of Americans support granting a pardon for a convicted traitor who sold top-secret information he swore to protect, your suggestion that his freedom would result in a new holocaust.

The fact that he has not been pardoned and pollard did not really either request for early dismissal is there something we do not know like a previous poster said bush nor clinton nor bush pardoned him either. I believe he did something more then we know and that is why he is not being pardoned!

All of you voters who absolute hate Mr. Obama, this is your day. If Obama does not address this situation, I might think it would be in the debates in the next 6-8 months or so. So guess what, I am sure that Mr. Pollard gets whats his due in good time. But of course, it might be the straw in the camels nest in a way for Mr. Obama. I am not saying one way or another what the best outcome must be, but this could be a political situation that translates to votes in the future. Though I am certain that noone can beat Mr. Obama except Jon2012, I am certain that the fact is clear that this contention will be a straw to grasp in the debates. Just a thought.

For anyone who can’t bring themselves to understand what i meant i will only say that I don’t think you realize the detrimental effect of reverse racism and just how widespread it is. A this point in time here in America almost every nonjew I hear from thinks that Jews have more money more influence and just plain more. Many don’t even say it in a bad way. They say it respectfully and wish that their communities would be the same way. But the idea is deeply ingrained in their psyche. Unfortunately when times get tough with money or safety or whatnot this ever present idea resurfaces in ugly ways as we are witnessing now in the anti semitic hate crimes and accusations of jews running the banks heard in zarcottti park. The last thing we need is to actually ‘run the world’ and push the president around. It only ends in fish let lose eating the fish they think have more than they deserve.
